Would you also recommend Harry Potter… just fiction… not theology????? or what about Dan Brown’s worldwide best seller… The Davinci Code???? Just because it’s “fiction” does NOT mean powerful values are not being communicated. The Shack is a VERY powerful, consummately crafted “work of fiction” that is obviously communicating bedrock values that are NOT consistent with basic scriptural tenets… that war against the truth of Christ… in the same nuanced way that “Potter” and “Davinci” do. To hear you recommending this book is deeply troubling… and, quite honestly, calls your credibility and gullibility into serious question. It’s very disturbing to hear someone with your experience and reputation in the body of Christ speaking, and apparently believing in this way…. and broadcasting this to such a wide audience of trusting brothers and sisters. I have been “tuning in” to your program for many, many years, and have never heard you convey these corrupt, apostate values before. As you know, I am NOT alone in my concern for the impact this book is having on the body of Christ. There is NO reason why such a beautifully insightful, richly allegorical message could not have been written with orthodox Christian values in the same spirit as George MacDonald of which it is so warmly reminiscent. The fact that it is SO gifted and talented in its literary appeal only compounds the horror of the damage it is doing in the church at large and the wider audience of those who COULD have been reached for Christ… but are now consigned to wandering in the land of Nod. YOU should have addressed this deeply problematic issue on your program… not facilitated, promoted, and perpetuated the lie that continues to enshroud and drive our culture into deeper and deeper darkness and destruction. Needless to say, I’m very disappointed… and hope somehow you will reconsider this matter and take remedial steps to try and undue the damage.

In reply to Noah… You have made an empassioned plea against The Shack, but without any specific examples. It would be more helpful for discussion if you listed the specific texts in which the book may be unbiblical, with Scriptural references.

Only one question…..have you read the book?
